BLACK BEAR HUNTS
Spring: No spring hunts available for 2019
Fall: October 16 to November 5, 2020
We hunt Black Bears both spring and fall using only spot and stalk methods. There is “NO BAITING” and we have a good population of Black Bears in the area. With approximately thirty percent color phase, these bears can range from black or brown, to cinnamon, and even blonde. All hunters are able to take two bears per year which gives you a great opportunity to harvest both a big boar averaging six-seven feet and a color phase bear.

During the spring hunts, these bears have very nice full coats of fur and the best time to hunt them is mid-May until the second week of June. During the fall, bears have had the chance to fatten up all summer long adding 100+ pounds of weight to their already enormous size. Fall bears make an excellent secondary animal to an already exciting Mule Deer or Whitetail Deer Hunt.
The hunt will take place in the forestry area of the foothills. We will concentrate by hunting old logging slashes, open hillsides and pipelines where the vegetation will green up first. We will access this area using pick-ups and ATV’s. Hiking will also be required in certain areas to get to a good vantage point to glass and for the final stalk to get within shooting distance.
