What Gear Should I Bring?

SPRING BLACK BEAR HUNTS

 

  • Passport

  • Leather, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support

  • Quite rain gear, pants and jacket with hood

  • Light gloves

  • Daypack big enough to carry extra clothes, lunch, flashlight, and other hunting gear you may need.

  • Gun and two extra boxes of shells

  • Binoculars

  • Any camouflage will work

  • Camera. If digital, bring extra batteries, charger and memory cards

  • Shooting sticks

  • Sunglasses

 

Personal Items:

  • Medication

  • Tooth Brush and Tooth Paste

  • Soap

  • Shampoo

 

EARLY SEASON TENT CAMP HUNTS

 

  • Passport

  • Sleeping bag and Thermarest,

  • Internal backpack (approx. 4500-5500 cubic inches)

  • Small day pack  

  • Enough clothes for entire hunt

  • Crocs (to wear while boots are drying or crossing rivers)

  • Lightweight headlamp

  • Binoculars (Brian uses the Swarovski 10x42 ELs which are nice and light)

  • Plastic water bottle (1 litre soda bottle works)

  • Pocket knife (light weight)

 

Personal Items:

  • Shampoo (travel size)

  • Soap (travel size)

  • Deodorant (travel size)

  • Medication

  • Tooth Brush and Toothpaste

  • Chap stick

  • Sunscreen

  • Small first aid kit

  • Aspirin

  • Rolaids

  • Moleskin (excellent for blisters)

  • Wet Wipes

  • Camp towel  (small and light weight)

EARLY SEASON FALL HUNTS

 

  • Passport

  • Leather, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support and some thinsulate.

  • Warmer felt lined boots in case of early snow fall

  • Quite rain gear, pants and jacket hood.

  • Warm clothing to cover you head, ears, neck and hands.

  • Quite comfortable warm clothes such as wool or fleece for colder temperatures

  • Daypack with enough space to carry extra clothes, lunch, flashlight and other hunting gear you may need. And possibly meat if you harvest your animal while hiking.

  • Gun and two boxes of shells

  • Binoculars

  • Any camouflage will work

  • Camera. If digital, bring extra batteries, charger, and memory cards

  • Shooting sticks

  • Gloves ( good warm gloves)

  • Wool hat

  • Long underwear

  • Warm outer wear (Cabela’s  Outfitter Wool is good)

  • Cellular Phone (if you own one)

  • Knife

  • Flashlight

  • Day Pack

  • Matches/lighter

  • Camera

  • Hand Warmer

  • Screw in Tree Hooks

  • Foam Seat Cushion

  • Rifle (that you have practiced with)

  • 2 Boxes of Ammo

  • Scope Lens Covers

  • Lubrication and Cloth (to wipe down gun)
